WHAT IS THE TOEFL TEST?
Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is a prerequisite for candidates who wish to migrate to an English-speaking country for higher education in major streams. More than 11,000 universities accept the test as a proof of English language proficiency. This test is conducted by a leading educational testing organization called ETS.
Test Structure
The TOEFL™ tests all four language skills that are important for effective communication: speaking, listening, reading, and writing. The structure of the TOEFL™ is as follows:
Writing
Time allotted -50 minutes
No of Questions: 2 tasks
Read a passage, listen to a recording, type your response
Reading
Time allotted - 54–72 minutes
No of Questions: 30–40
Read passages and respond to questions
Speaking
Time allotted - 17 minutes
No of Questions: 4 tasks
Talk and discuss a familiar topic
Listening
Time allotted - 41–57 minutes
No of Questions: 28–39
Answer questions about brief lectures
